Why Destroy?

Why Secure Hard Drive Destruction Matters

Deleting files or formatting a hard drive doesn't permanently erase your data. In many cases, deleted files can still be recovered using forensic software because the data remains on the drive until it's overwritten. For sensitive information, such as customer records, financial documents, medical files, or business data, deletion alone isn't enough. Physical hard drive destruction permanently prevents data recovery, while NIST SP 800-88 data sanitization is available when the drive needs to remain usable. For many businesses, securely destroying the drive is only part of the process. A documented chain of custody and Certificate of Destruction provide proof that your data was handled and disposed of responsibly, supporting internal policies and compliance requirements.

Our Process

Our Certified Hard Drive Destruction Process

Secure at every step, and simple for you:

Drop your drives at any location, or we collect them from you. From that moment, they’re tracked under a documented chain of custody.

Our skilled technicians conduct a thorough evaluation of the devices to identify all storage media that may contain sensitive data. This includes hard drives, solid-state drives (SSDs), and other storage devices.

Option 1 – On-Site Data Destruction: Our experts will perform data destruction at your location. You can witness the process firsthand, ensuring complete peace of mind regarding the destruction of your data.

Option 2 – Off-Site Data Destruction: Alternatively, if you prefer, we can securely transport the storage media back to our facility for destruction. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and follows strict security protocols to ensure the safe and irreversible destruction of your data.

We physically destroy each drive so it can never be read again. Where a client needs the drive preserved, we sanitize the data to the NIST 800-88 method instead. On-site or at our facility.

After data destruction is completed, we provide you with a detailed Certificate of Destruction that includes the serial numbers of the hard drives. This document serves as proof that your data has been effectively and permanently erased, giving you the assurance of compliance with data protection regulations.

Why Destroy?

Why Shred or Destroy Your Hard Drives?

You probably think that “deleting” a file will do the job. However, this is actually not the case. Although you or common people will probably be unable to recover deleted files, criminals of today are very tech-savvy. They have devised ingenious ways to recover these files. After all, a “deleted” file is not completely erased. It is only tagged as additional storage space for future use. In fact, forensic investigators have special techniques to recover deleted files from computers, gadgets and other technology.

It is very crucial for individuals, families, and businesses to dispose of hard drives and similar items containing sensitive information securely. If these devices fall into the wrong hands, the consequences can be devastating, as criminals are always ready to exploit any opportunity to profit illegally. Therefore, when discarding old or faulty computers, ensure that the hard drives are thoroughly and securely destroyed.
