Plastic Recycling & Disposal San Diego

PLASTIC ONLY ACCEPTED AT OUR MAIN 4009 HICOCK ST WAREHOUSE (monthly subscription required)

At Dream Electronic Recycling, we specialize in keeping electronics out of landfills, but when it comes to plastic film and bags (“soft plastics”), we’ve teamed up with Plastic Beach, a local San Diego nonprofit dedicated to recycling materials that traditional curbside programs can’t handle. Through this partnership, you now have an easy, eco-friendly way to keep soft plastics out of the trash.

Below, you’ll find details on what’s accepted, how to prepare your items, and where to drop them off.

Why we partnered with Plastic Beach

Plastic film and bags are a top contaminant in curbside recycling and can jam sorting equipment. Rather than collect a material we can’t responsibly process in‑house, we partnered with Plastic Beach, a San Diego based specialist in soft‑plastic film.

Their subscription bag‑swap keeps the stream clean, dry, and bale‑ready, which means more of what you bring in actually gets recycled through the right channels. This partnership lets us stay laser‑focused on electronics, while giving you a reliable, local outlet for soft plastics reducing landfill, litter. The result is a simpler experience (e‑waste with us, soft plastics with Plastic Beach), better quality material, and higher recovery potential.

  • Do you take plastics at Dream Electronic Recycling?
We take electronics, batteries, and related e‑waste. For soft plastics, please use our partner, Plastic Beach.
  • Is there a fee for plastic drop‑offs?
Yes, Plastic Beach’s Resident Drop‑Off Program runs on a monthly subscription. They manage pricing and site access.
  • Can I bring hard plastics (bottles/containers) to Plastic Beach?
No, those go in your curbside blue bin if they’re empty, dry, and loose. Plastic Beach focuses on soft plastic film.
  • Do I need to remove labels and tape?
Yes, remove paper labels, tape, and non‑plastic parts when possible.
  • Can I bring e-waste at the same time?
Yes, drop off electronics with us, and complete your soft-plastic bag swap with Plastic Beach at the same visit.
