About the City of Eastlake
Eastlake is a master planned community in the eastern hills of Chula Vista, built in phases from the mid-eighties onward on what had been ranch land above the Otay Lakes. The original Eastlake Hills came first, then Shores, Greens, Trails, Woods and Vistas, each one platted and built out before the next broke ground.
That sequencing is why the area feels so orderly. Streets curve rather than grid, the arterials were drawn before the houses, and nearly every neighborhood was designed around a park, Mountain Hawk, Eastlake Community Park, Scobee, with trails connecting them. Eastlake Village Marketplace anchors the shopping, Otay Lakes sits just east for boating and hiking, and the Chula Vista Elementary and Sweetwater Union districts serve the schools that drew most families here in the first place.
The people who moved in are largely still here. Eastlake was built for families, and a lot of those families bought in the nineties and never left.
Which brings us to the garages. A neighborhood built thirty years ago and lived in by the same households has accumulated thirty years of electronics: the tube television that went to the garage when the flat screen arrived, the flat screen that replaced it, desktop towers, printers, a decade of phones in a drawer. None of it can legally go in the trash in California. We take all of it, free, and if it’s more than fits in the car we’ll collect it from your Eastlake address at no charge.
