Otay Ranch
About the City of Otay Ranch
Otay Ranch is a master-planned community in eastern Chula Vista, built out over the past two decades into a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments served by the Chula Vista Elementary and Sweetwater Union districts. Newer, family-dense neighborhoods like this generate a steady stream of retired electronics, outgrown laptops, replaced TVs, old phones and game consoles accumulating in garages.
California law limits what you can do with them. Under the Electronic Waste Recycling Act, televisions, monitors, computers, and most battery-powered devices cannot be placed in household trash anywhere in the state. These devices contain lead, mercury, and cadmium that leach into soil and groundwater in landfills, a concern in a community bordering the Otay Valley Regional Park and its watershed.
Dream Electronic Recycling serves Otay Ranch from our drop-off center at 819 Anita St in western Chula Vista, roughly fifteen minutes via the 125 or the 805. We are an R2v3-certified facility (CEWID #127772), and every data-bearing device is wiped or destroyed to NIST 800-88 standards before materials are recovered. Households with several devices, along with local schools, HOAs, and businesses at the Town Center, can request a free pickup instead.
