Imperial Beach, CA
About the City of Imperial Beach, CA
Imperial Beach sits at the southern end of San Diego County, a coastal community of roughly 26,000 residents known for its pier, its surf culture, and its proximity to the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve. That estuary is one of the reasons responsible e-waste disposal matters here: electronics contain lead, mercury, and cadmium that leach into soil and groundwater when they end up in landfill, and the watershed feeding the reserve runs close to the city.
California law reflects that risk. Under the Electronic Waste Recycling Act, it is illegal to dispose of televisions, monitors, computers, and most battery-powered devices in household trash anywhere in the state, Imperial Beach included. Residents must take covered electronic devices to a certified recycler.
Dream Electronic Recycling is an R2v3-certified facility (CEWID #127772) serving Imperial Beach from our Chula Vista center on Anita Street. We accept devices from households, Sweetwater Union and South Bay Union schools, city departments, and local businesses, and every data-bearing device is wiped or destroyed to NIST 800-88 standards before the materials are recovered.
