About Electronics Recycling in San Ysidro
San Ysidro sits at the southernmost edge of San Diego, built around one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. That position shapes the local economy: customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics offices, and the retail operations around Las Americas all run on equipment that eventually needs retiring, and much of it holds data that has to be destroyed properly rather than dumped.
For households, California law is clear. Under the Electronic Waste Recycling Act, televisions, monitors, computers, and most battery-powered devices cannot go in household trash anywhere in the state. These devices contain lead, mercury, and cadmium that leach into soil and groundwater in landfill, and the Tijuana River watershed runs directly through this part of the county.
Dream Electronic Recycling serves San Ysidro from our drop-off center at 819 Anita St in Chula Vista, about ten minutes north on the I-5. We’re an R2v3-certified facility (CEWID #127772). Every data-bearing device is wiped or destroyed to NIST 800-88 standards before materials are recovered, and free pickup is available for San Ysidro businesses, schools, and households with several devices.
